Message from the Chair
It is a pleasure to be able to write a few notes of introduction to the Governors portion of the website.
The website is an opportunity for both Governors to share information and for non-Governors to be aware of the work being undertaken by the Governing Body.
The year has only been a success due to the hard work of the students, staff, parents and all the others involved. Of course amongst the list of others, are the unsung heroes of the Governing Body. The Governors have two main functions, the first is to ensure that the school meets its legal obligations and the second is to work with the school at a strategic level. This unpaid band of people do put in a lot of effort, most of which is behind the scenes and this is an opportunity to say thank you to them all.
Cippenham has changed greatly in the last 50 years, from when Cippenham Lane was literally a Country Lane, to the large village that it is now. The Westgate 75 celebrations will be in 2033!!! and over the next 25 years, Cippenham will naturally continue to change and develop, alongside the developments of the world generally. It is difficult to imagine what those changes may be.
The school has been hugely successful under the helm of Roger Thomas and the challenge over the oncoming years is to continue to progress, whilst keeping the values, ethos and culture of the school firmly in place. With this in mind, the School Strategic Plan for the next 5 years is something that the Governors will particularly be concentrating on.
