👔Suited Up For The Future!💼

The annual Year 11 Mock Interview Day was once again a great success, where 240 students were given the choice to give up school uniform in favour of in interview-appropriate attire. The students met an employer for a 30 mins one to one mock interview session based on competencies and go through their first ever CV’s.

Amazingly, we were joined by 32 business volunteers, many of whom were with us last year and were happy to return. We were also proud to welcome back 10 Westgate Alumni students that are enjoying their excellent careers. Students reported that the session was ‘nerve wracking’ until afterwards when they were all elated to have ‘survived’ and they came away with some valuable tips and guidance.

Parents feedback emails included: "Thank you for organising the superb Interview Day today. My daughter was very nervous and didn’t know what to expect but she came home happy that she met a helpful and friendly lady who gave her lots of information. This will help her to be ready for future interviews and she is a very happy girl."

Students reported a positive and rewarding experience, and included: "Miss, I loved it! She was really nice and she helped me with a few things on my CV. She asked me to send me her CV at any time in the future if I want to work for Eaton! Thank you for organising this for us."

Organising such an event is no easy task, and we cannot hank the volunteers enough for time and efforts on our student’s behalf. Please see the Comapny list: Irwin Mitchell. Quote from company: "We all had a great day yesterday volunteering. Amazing opportunity for the students to get some interview experience and be ready for the real world. We all said how we would have loved something like this at our time.

There were 8 of us that attended the day, and between us we completed 53 interviews! We are really pleased with this. We were all amazed with the student’s capabilities; the way they conducted themselves, and how much they know, at this very young age of 15-16 years, is admirable. We all said one thing – we were not like that when we were their age! There were 2 people I interviewed with amazing talent. One of them even gave me their CV to see if they can come work for us as an apprentice – she really wants to go further into engineering and be a technician.

Thank you for your support yesterday, the lunch and hot drinks were all very lovely and appreciated." ~ Team Eaton
