Scientist of the Year Competition 2017

Westgate students runners up in Lonza Scientist of the Year Competition

The Westgate team of Isha, Becca and Alina were invited to Lonza for the final round of the Scientist of the Year Competition after a successful essay entry. They where required to deliver a scientific presentation on the Immune System. Although our students were nervous, they didn’t let their nerves show whilst presenting to the panel who also tested their knowledge in a tough question session.  The judges were extremely impressed and awarded them second place which is a huge achievement for a first time entry. They were each presented with a voucher, framed certificate and a goody bag for all their hard work. The day was a great success and our students later enjoyed a tour of the labs and a pizza lunch.

“Overall the day was very new and fun. We got to experience many amazing and adventurous things. The people were very nice and welcoming and I would recommend the experience to anyone.”  Isha - Year 10.

“I would like to thank Lonza for making us feel so welcome for the day. The students were a credit to the school and all their hard work shone through!” Mrs Lea Miller - Curriculum Support.
