Sixth Form Option Evening 22nd November 2017

Year 11 students informed about the Post 16 options available at The Westgate School for 2018/19.

The school held another successful Sixth Form Options Evening.  To a packed hall, Head Teacher Ms Rose introduced the evening and welcomed current Year 11 students, visiting students from other schools and parents.  Miss Mittal, Head of Sixth Form, explained the three Pathways open to students from September 2018 and Mr Clarke, Deputy Head of Sixth Form presented the different enrichment activities available in The Westgate School Sixth Form.  After the presentations, students and parents were able to visit the school’s Subject Fair where Sixth Form students and teachers were on hand to talk about the various courses available in Year 12.

The evening was a great success with a record number of visitors attending.  Well done to all involved.

“The Sixth Form Open Evening was an absolute success. Not only did it result in the reassurance of many of the Year 11 Westgate students about their post-16 option choices, it also helped many of the external students attending to appreciate the opportunities and support available here at Westgate.  Since the Open Evening, several Year 11 students have approached me to ask if they could meet me during tutor time to discuss their A-Level options and career options. The fact that students felt confident to ask for my help fills me with pride and reaffirms just how supportive The Westgate School is in smoothing the transition from GCSE’s to A levels”. Lauren B - Head Girl Year 12.
