Learning Safely Online


It is of upmost importance your child is ALWAYS working safely online, here are 5 ways to help children and young people stay safe online, if you require any help or advice please do not hesitate to contact us:

1. Prioritise safety

Teach children not to give out any personal information, such as their name, date of birth, address, telephone number, which school they go to, including not sharing photographs. 

2. Set parental controls.

Agree a list of websites your child is allowed to visit, your broadband provider should enable you to set parental controls. Remember to check the minimum age limit on services like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat and YouTube. We do not encourage the use of social media platforms however if your child is using a social media platform with your consent we highly recommend privacy setting are on and this is checked and updated on a regular basis. 

3. Discuss their activity.

Take a regular interest in their online world, talk to them about their favourite websites, videos, and get to know their online friends. 

4. Set boundaries.

Establish time limits for activities such as using the Internet and games consoles, so that screen time is limited and spend quality time with each other in the household.

5. Be open.

Let your child know on a regular basis that they can tell you about anything that happens on the Internet, and that you’ll listen without judgement.
