Mental Health & Wellbeing

As a school we are committed to working with you and providing mental health and wellbeing support to both our parents and students.

As a school we recognise that there can be many challenges as we grow up and progress through school. We firmly believe that we all o our school community must look after their mental health as well as their physical health. We have a dedicated, non teaching Pastoral team who are in place to support students with any concerns that they may have at ant time.

This includes colleagues with specific Senior Mental Health Training and Mental Health First Aiders.

In addition to the pastoral team providing personalised care, the school offers a range of support for students including our own school counsellors, Sashi and Sandra, ELSA, 1:1 mentoring which include both peer and adult mentoring and a variety of different workshops including the Engage programme and Resilience programme. The school has invested in staff training and all staff have received guidance on how to recognise and deal with common mental health concerns and how and when to refer issues onwards.

The school continues to work proactively in considering both student and staff wellbeing in all aspects of school life and works with external agencies very closely to ensure that students are supported through their most challenging times.

If you have any concerns or would like to report concerns about a peer, please email safeguarding@westgate.slough.sch.uk.

Please see some helpful links and information below that covers a range of topics and should you wish to talk to someone, please come to the pastoral department at any time or speak to your tutor.
