Extra Curricular Music Makes Some Noise!

Students across the school have been attending extra curricular music classes and the progress is fantastic!

The new school year has seen a new extra curricular timetable in the Music Department and it has started with a bang! Students have been attending the variety of clubs on offer such as Samba club, African Drumming, Ukulele Club, Westgate Chorus and working towards the exciting musical production Alice in Wonderland. “The music clubs allow you to experience music on a daily basis and make new friends” says Callum Withers in MW61AAH. Students have already started working towards The Westgate School Christmas Concert that will take place on Thursday 15th December. The school choir 'Westgate Chorus' now consists of over 40 students and with live instruments providing accompaniment and sensational singing voices the results so far are exceptional! Breerah Mahmood, a year 10 student in M102PS says “ I love choir…It sounds awesome.” Students who enjoy being loud have experienced the Brazilian sounds of Samba and African sounds of the djembe drum. The Ukulele club takes place before school on Tuesday's and the ensemble have been learning pop songs including 'Riptide' and 'I'm Yours'. Joe Sayce in T91S1 says “Extracurricular activities in music are a great way to learn.”

Plans are already in place for many external and internal performances and concerts in and around the local community and at The Westgate School. The music department welcomes you to join any extra curricular club....why not even try them all!
