Canteen and free school meals
The Westgate School works closely with Cucina to ensure that all students have access to a healthy, balanced and nutritious diet at an affordable price.
Students have access to the restaurant before school for breakfast, breaktime, lunchtime and after school. Typical offerings are:
- Free porridge for breakfast
- A ‘meal of the day’
- ‘Grab and Go’ items such as paninis, pizzas and calzone
- Fresh pasta, wraps, sandwiches, baguettes and snacks
- Homemade soup of the day
The restaurant menu operates on a three week cycle and is available below.
Please see below for 'Food allergens and intolerance policy'.
Please see below for 'Allergen Guidance and information'.
Cashless Catering
The school operates a cashless catering system so no cash will be accepted at the till. Students will have their own account set up which can be topped through either ParentPay or via the machine located outside reception. ParentPay is the preferred option as it will negate the need for students to queue or bring cash to school. Please see the ParentPay section for further details.
Free School Meals
Taking up free school meals has benefits for everyone:
- children get a healthy nutritious meal
- schools can benefit directly by receiving £900 for each secondary child.
If you do not want your child to have the school meals they can continue to have packed lunches – as long as you qualify and are registered, the school still gets the extra money.
An application form can be found at the bottom of this page or apply online at Slough Council. Alternatively you may collect a form from the school reception.
