Welcome to Digital Information Technology BTEC

The course is delivered by the Business and IT Department at the Westgate School. This department offers a range of subjects; the  DIT course is one of two IT related subjects offered at the school, the other being Computer Science. The department has specialist staff to deliver these courses.  This course has 3 components, two of which are coursework; therefore, this course will be particularly suitable for students who enjoy working independently and for those who would like to develop their IT skills (using applications).

I chose the BTEC IT course to develop my knowledge and IT skills to be able to use in the working world, digital technology surrounds the world and it’s a great career path to take…

I enjoy the different units, learning about data and how it’s used in coursework and allows independence when learning which it is great to do.

I have developed basic and difficult IT skills in regards to excel data analysis and I am able to explain the fundamentals of the IT all around us, Chloe T Year 11.

I enjoy learning about IT and find it very interesting and it will be beneficial in the upcoming years, because IT is a growing market that grows exponentially each year and doing this subject will be helpful for future careers even if the career isn't as IT heavy.

Skills such as keyword research, allowing me to be able carefully and precisely research the relevant information I needed for my coursework, J Kullar, Year 11.

I chose the subject because I have always been interested in ICT and enjoyed it in year 7,8 and 9 and I wanted to continue to do some form of ICT for GCSE as well..

I enjoy learning new things about ICT and developing skills such as determination because if you do not perform well in a piece of coursework you will be determined to do better, R Kumar Year 11.
