Message from the Chair of Governors
It is a pleasure to be able to continue to write a few notes of introduction to the Governors' portion of the new website.
The website is an opportunity for both Governors to share information and for non-Governors to be aware of the work being undertaken by the Governing Body.
Whilst there have been many good events to celebrate in recent years, one of the most notable is the ‘Outstanding’ designation awarded by the Ofsted Inspectors. Indeed, the Inspectors said the following:
The highly skilled team of committed leaders and managers at all levels, including the dynamic governing body, have an unremitting focus on the student focus and the provision of the high quality teaching and learning.
This success is due to the hard work of the students, staff, parents and all those others involved with the school. Of course, amongst the list of others is the Governing Body. The Governors have two main functions, the first is to ensure that the school meets its legal obligations and the second is to work with the school at a strategic level. The Governing Body is fortunate in that its members have a variety of skills, which makes it a very strong unit in striving for continual improvement. This is an opportunity to say thank you to them all.
Cippenham has changed greatly in the last 60 plus years, from when Cippenham Lane was literally a country lane, to the large village that it is now. The Westgate School is committed to remain in the heart of the community and serve the local families well.
The school has been hugely successful and continues to thrive, with Mrs Cooper having recently taken the helm. The school continues to progress, whilst keeping the values, ethos and culture of the school firmly in place.
