Head Teacher's Welcome
The Westgate School prides itself on our commitment in ensuring every student is '#equippedforlife'. This is at the heart of what we do to ensure that students have every opportunity to thrive during their time at school and beyond.
The Westgate School is a vibrant, happy and inclusive school where students excel because of the nurturing and aspirational learning environment. This is because we care passionately about the progress and development of every student’s journey into adult life. Our success is built on the quality of relationships. Together staff, governors, students, parents and carers work collaboratively with a strong sense of community built on core values of pride, trust and respect.
We believe that #betterneverstops and this continually drives all our learning community to reflect, learn and grow together so that we all challenge ourselves to achieve our personal best. This is reflected in our excellent outcomes and our outstanding Ofsted rating.
High quality teaching and learning and an outstanding curriculum provides a range of opportunities that stretch and challenge our young people’s capacity to think for themselves, develop their confidence and step outside their comfort zone. In the rapidly changing world in which we live, equipping our students with skills that enable them to adapt and take on the jobs of the future is key. Our extensive business links provide students with an invaluable insight into the world of work.
Our staff lead by example and work hard to ensure that our young people feel happy, valued and secure. Our excellent, pro-active pastoral care and support underpins all we do. We have high expectations of all our learning community because we are ambitious for our young people and encourage a ‘can-do’ attitude. Grit, resilience and well-being are important lifelong lessons and are integral to what we do to support our young people to overcome any challenges they may experience in life.
Our young people speak for themselves and are at the heart of what we do. Come and see for yourself why we are so proud of each of them and our school.
