Assessment at A Level

Speaking:      21-23 minutes  / 30% of qualification

Task 1: Presentation and Discussion on independent research project.

Task 2: Discussion based on the content of the research project.

 

Listening, Reading, Translation Written Exam: 2 ½ hrs  / 50% of qualification

Section A: Listening; Section B: Reading; Section C: Translation - Spanish into English and English into Spanish

 

Critical and Analytical Response in writing (closed - book) 2 hours  / 20 % of qualification

Two essays - one based on a literary work and the second on another literary work or a film from the prescribed list.  

The Future

The study of languages opens up a wide range of careers needing general academic  qualifications as well as those requiring specific linguistic knowledge. Learning a language greatly benefits study into higher education. Furthermore, an A2 Level in Languages will be useful for careers in translation, interpreting, law, civil service, journalism, personnel management, public relations, social work, politics, police force, media, education and many more.
