Facilities Manager

8.00am - 4.00pm Monday to Thursday    8.00am to 3.30pm Friday (37 hrs) Full time 52 weeks per year

25 days annual leave rising to 29 after 2 years service

Level 7 actual salary £37,300 to £42,498 depending on experience

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative and proactive Facilities Manager to play a key role in the management and development of the school premises, ensuring they are safe, well maintained and meet the needs of the school.  We are a large oversubscribed outstanding secondary school with 1345 students and 149 members of staff.

The Facilities Manager will be responsible for the management of the entire premises, which include a number of sports facilities that are let to the community. The efficient working of all systems in the school is crucial and the successful candidate will need to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of managing their work whilst taking the needs of the school, its staff and students into consideration.

The Facilities Manager will need a focused, direct and proactive approach in ensuring that the school environment is safe, meeting statutory requirements and that all equipment and resources are working so that staff and students are able to focus their attention on their teaching and learning. They will also be responsible for the line management of the site staff.

Reporting directly to the Deputy Head Teacher, the responsibilities will encompass:

  • Effective management of outsourced contracts
  • Effective liaison with the outsourced cleaning and catering contractors
  • Strategic management of the maintenance budget and implementation of an effective programme of capital works when required
  • Seeking to maximise energy efficiency and adoption of sustainable waste management
  • Ensuring that the operation of the school is in accordance with the latest guidance, policies and legislation in respect of Health and Safety
  • Ensuring effective maintenance of the grounds
  • Ensuring that the site is safe and secure for all users at all times
  • Effective leadership of the site staff including direction of tasks and duty rotas
  • Ensuring that the premises and equipment are in good order and allow the school to function effectively

The successful candidate will ideally have relevant experience of working within a similar sized facility, good knowledge and experience of Health & Safety requirements; a qualification in this area would be an advantage, good organisation and budget management skills, the ability to work under pressure, good skills in collaborating and communicating and the ability to be flexible in order to ensure the needs of the school are met.

Learning Support Assistant                                                                          

8.45am to 3.15pm Monday to Friday (30 hrs)   Term-time + 2 INSET days

Level 3 starting Point 5 Full time equivalent £22,577 Actual salary £15,433 per annum

We have an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career as a Learning Support Assistant to join a highly successful team in an Outstanding School.  We currently offer differing levels of learning support for over 100 students, aged 11-18, within a mainstream learning environment.

Inclusion is our primary goal and we ensure that all our students, even those with physical disabilities, are enabled to access the full curriculum, learning environment and extra-curricular activities, regardless of their individual needs.

Full training is available covering all aspects of the job, including personal care, and staff are fully supported to progress if they would like to.

Cover Supervisor (x2)

7:30am to 3:30pm daily Monday to Thursday    7:30am to 3.00pm Friday (37 hours weekly)

Term time only plus INSET days/Twilights (39 weeks)

Level 4 (starting point 8) Actual salary £20,362 per annum FTE £23,779

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic colleague to complement the teaching staff and to cover occasional short term absences within the school. With the guidance of teachers, the successful applicant will supervise classes in carrying out the work they have been set and assist and motivate students in their learning.

You should ideally be educated to at least A Level, with a high level of literacy and numeracy skills. You need to be an excellent communicator, have sound organisational skills and be able to work confidently using your own initiative. While previous experience is not essential, the ability to motivate young people would be advantageous. The ideal candidate would have experience of working with young people either in a voluntary or employed capacity.

Prior knowledge of SIMS is advantageous but not essential.
