We are always blown away by our children's talents...
I enjoy Science and want to take A Levels in Science, eventually pursuing a scientific career. Within Science lessons as part of my GCSEs I am already being stretched and challenged where I am being exposed to A Level Biology which is helping me grow in confidence. I am also part of the school netball team which I love because as well as keeping fit, it's a great opportunity for me to have some healthy competition with my friends, Jannatjoy, Year 10.
Throughout my journey at The Westgate School I have been given many opportunities and responsibilities such as: Captain of the school football team and leading the team to the cup final. I have also participated in the Christmas concert as well as representing the school at TVAC in the School Districts, Emanuele, Year 11.
After visiting various local secondary schools, it was clear to us and our children that Westgate would be our first choice. We were impressed with the existing students that carried out our tour of the school, they were polite, knowledgeable and confident, all staff were friendly, welcoming and supportive with the school offering a range of facilities catering for children of all abilities. The school has a very diverse multicultural ethos and is inclusive no matter what, with an incredibly supportive Pastoral Department and Medical Officer. My son attended The Westgate School transitioning smoothly in to Sixth Form and was successful in gaining a first choice place at university, my daughter is currently continuing her journey through The Westgate school and is looking forward to the next stage of her learning, choosing her GCSE’s, Mrs. Johnson-Hortop.
Working at The Westgate School is an experience par excellence! The children are at the heart of everything we do at Westgate School; their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing guides the way we approach each day. Compassion, consideration and Kindness are embedded in our ethos and daily life at The Westgate School. The curriculum not only focusses on the understanding of the content and concepts of the core subjects but also strongly emphasises on helping students hone the 21st Century skills like Collaboration, Communication, Reflection, Curiosity etc through Westgate6 curriculum. Having taught in different schools across many countries, I can safely say that every child deserves a school like The Westgate School. I am proud to contribute to your child’s learning journey as a part of #teamwestgate, Mrs Nagpal KS3 English Lead.
I really enjoy working in a school where there is not only a focus on the academic side, but also pastoral care and student wellbeing is a high priority and positive relationships between staff and students enhance everyone’s school experience. As a history teacher, the school curriculum across my own and many other subjects provides students with knowledge and an understanding of current world events and I love that students feel comfortable enough, and are engaged enough, to approach me outside of lessons as they want to discuss things that are going on in the world around them, Mrs. Williams, History.
