TV Programme 'Bring the Drama'

Complementing the six-part BBC Two and IPlayer series, the Bring the Drama Festival is your chance to look behind the scenes of film, TV, and theatres. If you're interested in a career in stage or screen, or want to find out more about working in the creative industries, this is the place to look. Their brand-new series of short films will spotlight people in creative roles in productions including Matilda the Musical, Hamilton, Waterloo Road, Shrek the Musical, and the Harry Potter films.

Royal Holloway Summer University

A university residential opportunity for Year 12 students.

Students will get the chance to:

  • Explore a range of subject insight sessions
  • Meet fellow students and our current university students
  • Take part in social activities
  • Stay overnight in our university accommodation

Youth Action for Nature Event

Surrey Wildlife Trust and Royal Holloway University of London are coming together to launch this FREE event, hosted at the University.

The day will empower young people to take action for nature with talks on the biodiversity and climate crises, nature based solutions, green careers as well as highlighting the latest research in this area. We'll also be running a mini BioBlitz on campus, identifying as many species on campus as we can. The event is free, but booking is essential to secure your students places.

British Airways Work Experience Programme

They went live with 20+ NEW work experience vacancies for opportunities that will be taking place between September and December 2024. These opportunities are spread widely across our departments:

  • Engineering (London and Glasgow)
  • Flight Operations - this is aimed at aspiring Pilots!
  • Ground Operations
  • Business
  • Sustainability
  • Data Science
  • Legal
  • Customer Service (London, Newcastle and Manchester)

Students can sign up to the vacancies via Speedbird Z, our Student Platform where they can access learning modules as well as digital mentors.

Applications will CLOSE on Wednesday 15th May.

Please note that Students must be in Year 10 or above to apply. The vacancies are for both Insight Days and Placement opportunities - I have provided below some further information about these opportunities as well as the application process.

 

Work Experience Insight Days 

Our Insights Days are one-day in-person experiences allowing students to gain first-hand experience of working for British Airways. The days include activities, Q&A panels, workshops, tours, guest speakers and more!! ​Insight Days are a perfect introduction to Work Experience at British Airways and can open your eyes to the different departments and roles that we offer.  

How to apply for Insight Days? 

  • Visit Speedbird Z and sign up as a user   
  • Go to ‘Opportunities’ and review our upcoming Insight Days 
  • Select the Insight Day the appeals to you the most and click ‘Apply’ 
  • This will take you to an application form which will need to be submitted before the closing date 

Please note that we receive high numbers of applications for our insight days. Two weeks before the event, the Work Experience team will be in touch with you to confirm your attendance and share more details.  

 

Work Experience Placements 

Our Work Experience placements allow students to delve deep into specific areas of our business and gain an insight into behind-the-scenes activity. Our placements are usually three to four days long and include activities, tours, employability session and project work. Work Experience Placement are an excellent next step after attending an Insight Day where you are able to further your knowledge in your chosen area of our business.  

How to apply for Work Experience Placements?  

  • Visit Speedbird Z and sign up as a user   
  • Go to ‘Modules’ then ‘Work Experience at BA’  
  • Complete the initial ‘Work Experience at BA’ task to understand more about our programme and eligibility to apply  
  • Complete the ‘Introduction to…’ tasks to learn more about each area of BA that you can do work experience in  
  • Further details on how to apply and how to complete your application form are found at the end of each task  

Please note: 

  • You can only apply for one work experience placement (so choose the area you are most interested in)  
  • You cannot complete more than one work experience placement   
  • You will be asked to complete a mini project or report as part of your application depending on which placement you’ve applied for. Read through this carefully!
