Chess Trio Advance in UK Tournament

On Sunday 4th May, our Library Manager Ms Mulligan accompanied three of our Year 10 chess players to a Delancey UK School Chess Challenge Mega-final, held at St George's College in Addlestone. The Mega-final is the first step in this prestigious, nationwide challenge which is also the world's largest junior chess competition.

Students from across the Southeast faced off at St George's in a tournament spanning 7 hours.

Our students played very well and each secured a space in the next round of the challenge: Alina Gupta received a gold medal in the girls' under 15 bracket while Ryan Li and Nandan Katari received the silver and bronze medals for the boys' under 15 bracket.

We look forward to watching them play in the Gigfinal later this school year!
