The Magic of Media

Our Media Department was fortunate to receive the Creative Media Skills Institute from Pinewood Studios. Andy spoke to us about careers in the studio system and training courses which would help our students get a foot in to the industry.

With a personal and provocative hour’s seminar and showcase, our learners were able to see the realities constructed by the school. There was focus on screenwriting, costume and props, make up and effects, directing and cinematography, and perhaps crucially, an idea of income and working conditions. As well as some name dropping of Tom Holland, Zendaya, Spiderman and Disney, of course.

Toward the end of the sessions, our learners expressed an avid interest in visiting the Institute on site- seeing Pinewood itself, as well as what is offered. Andy warmly invited us, and we’re looking into heading over there for another fantastic opportunity toward the summer term.
