Sports Day 2023 🏆

Back in July, a rescheduled Sports Day took place at The Westgate School, with students participating in Team Events and a Sports Quiz during the morning, and traditional track events in the afternoon.
Students selected to participate in either Football, Basketball, Boccia, Trampolining or Handball. Basketball was dominated by Peters, who won the Year 7, 8 and 9 competitions, and in the Handball competition Hackett were dominant, winning in Year 7, 9 and 10. Football was competitive, with Hackett winning in Year 7, Peters in Year 8 and Year 9, and Thomas winning in Year 10.
On the track there were some standout performances. Arjan (7T1) won the Year 7 Boys 75m while in the Girls race Vanessa (7H2) edged out Brooke (7T1) to take first place. The boys 100m in Year 8 and 9 were won by Mason (8P2) and Bethel (9P2) and Hepzi recorded a fantastic time in winning the Year 9 Girls 200m. In Year 10 Milosz (10P2) and Kemi (10P1) came first in the 200m. The individual performance of the day, however, was Candy (9T1) in winning the 100m. The relays were well attended and competitive, and the final race of the day saw the PE department finish in 1st place in the staff relay.
Well done to all students for competing, and a special mention to our Year 11 and 12 Sports Leaders for their enthusiasm, and for helping to ensure the day ran smoothly.
