Best-selling author of the Gone series spoke with our Year 7 and 8 students
During Libraries Week UK we were lucky enough to welcome the well-known author, Michael Grant, to speak with our year 7 and 8 students about his latest book and his writing process. Michael gave students a fresh perspective on how to pursue a career in writing as he detailed his journey from troublemaker, to cleaner, to best-selling author. Students learned about the motivation behind Michael’s books, how he researches and creates characters, and how classic super heroes have influenced him. Students were lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the first chapter of the forthcoming book, Monster, a few days before the visit so were prepared with great questions to ask Michael at the end of the talk. Year 8 student, Ahmed Umer, also had a one-to-one interview with Michael to find out more about the publishing world and Michael’s life.
“He told us about his life and how life can change from in his case living in poverty and then being a famous author. I loved that he was very truthful as well” – Nazia Ali, Year 7
“He was confident about his past life. He is a brilliant author and his new book looks very interesting” – Esha Ram, Year 7
“The type of book he promoted looks great because there are different types of genres in one book” – Declan Crabbe, Year 8
