Year 11 and Year 10 GCSE Drama trip to Theatre Royal, Windsor and Year 10 and Year 9 devising workshop.
On 30th April 2019 Year 10 and invited Year 9 students had a thoroughly enjoyable day exploring devising techniques with Kerry Frampton from The Splendid Theatre Company. They learnt to take risks in performance, about using episodic structure and how to apply physical theatre to their responses. All students were highly engaged and they produced some striking and creative scenes. Two days later Year 10 and Year 11 students went to an evening performance of Rain Man at the Theatre Royal, Windsor. This is the inaugural production of the Classic Screen To Stage Company and the play was very true to the original film. Included in the glittering cast were Chris Fountain and Adam Lilley in the main roles of Charlie and Raymond Babbit. Students were very impressed with both actors' performances - particularly Lilley’s portrayal of autism.
“I have learnt so much about sustaining a character from this performance” - Ashlin Year 10.
“That was the best production I have seen outside of the West End” - Lauren Year 11.
“ I am so proud of the students. The front of House manager made a point of coming to tell me how impressed she was with the groups’ behaviour, enthusiasm and engagement. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and the students have a lot to write about for their exam” - Ms Slater. Curriculum leader, Drama.
