Westgate’s Year 7 students take part in Westgate6 Creativity Exit Day which was a great success!
In Years 7 and 8, students at The Westgate School have a bespoke curriculum called ‘Westgate 6’. This involves focusing on a ‘Big idea’ each half term which supports the development of each student to be equipped for life. The curriculum aims to make every student an effective communicator, resilient learner, adaptable leader, analytical thinker, creative initiator and independent organiser. In year 7, students have two lessons a week in learning sets with a learning leader to specifically focus on these skills and on Friday 9th February all Year 7 students participated in the £5 challenge market stall. The aim of the exit day was for students to showcase their hard work from the £5 challenge that they were set in January 2018. They had to create a business plan and generate as much profit as possible through the use of a creative and innovative marketing plan. Visitors from MARS were so impressed with the students work and commented on the exceptional behaviour, enthusiasm and effort that all students had showcased. Over £500 has been raised for charity in the process.
Well done Year 7
