On Tuesday 3rd July, 240 students visited The Westgate School for their special and exciting transition day. The 240 students will be attending Westgate in September 2018, the same time that the school will be celebrating its 60th birthday.
Students were welcomed in the morning by the Year 7 transition champions who did a brilliant job at supporting the Year 6 students, sharing their stories and own experiences of their first year at Westgate. They ensured all students that they would love Westgate and soon get to know their way around the big site.
The day was full of fun and creative team building activities including a task to create a product or app for a Dragons Den style competition. Every Year 6 student presented to their class by midday and over 40 students presented to an audience of 280 people, what an achievement!
The students were then treated to a delicious meal by our very popular caterers, Cucina. The afternoon encouraged students to think about their team identity and to continue to develop their team skills and getting to know each other. The evening welcomed parents and carers of Year 6 students to find out more about exciting Key Stage 3 Westgate6 curriculum and for parents to meet their child’s Westgate6 learning leader.
We are so excited to work alongside every student and parent who visited us during the transition day and evening and I would like to wish them all a lovely, restful summer.
Miss O’Neill would like to thank everyone who was involved in the transition event.
